The remote does everything
Speed, the light, dimming from 90 to 1,640 lumens, warm, natural or cool colour, and 1, 2 and 4 hour timers. Nothing extra on the wall.

How much does it cost to install a ceiling fan in Sydney?
Fitting a fan to a light point you already have is $165 including GST per fan. Supplied and installed with a Voltex 48-inch DC fan, one fan is $526 for the white fan without a light, up to $576 for the black fan with a light. Where there is no wiring yet, a new point adds $276 per fan. The calculator on this page gives you your own figure.
Can you replace a light with a ceiling fan?
Yes, and it is the most common fan job we do. The fan goes onto the light point that is already there, and the light switch already on the wall powers it. The fan's remote then runs the speed, the light and the timer, so there is nothing else to fit on the wall.
Do I need a wall controller for the fan?
Not for the Voltex DC fans we supply. The remote does it all — speed, light, dimming, colour, timers and reverse — so the wall only needs a switch to power the fan, and you almost always have one already.
What if there is no light where I want the fan?
Then it is a new point: a cable run from the nearest circuit through the roof, a switch, and a bracket to fix the fan to. That adds $276 per fan and needs access to the roof space above. If there is no roof access we look at it first rather than guess.
Can a fan go on a high or raked ceiling?
Yes. High or raked ceilings take a drop rod so the blades sit at a sensible height — with a 600mm rod the fan hangs about 850mm from the ceiling. That adds $130 per fan. Very high or steep ceilings may need a longer rod, which we confirm before we start.
Why a DC fan?
A DC motor is quieter and uses less power — the Voltex fan's motor is rated at 40 watts — and it gives finer control of the speed from the remote. It also reverses at the press of a button, so in winter it can push the warm air back down from the ceiling.
Can I supply my own fan?
Yes. Installation is $165 per fan including GST. We check it suits the ceiling and the mounting before it goes up, and fit it to the maker's instructions.
What warranty do the fans have?
Voltex cover the whole fitting — motor, blades, receiver and LED driver — for seven years, parts and labour. Our installation carries a 25-year workmanship warranty.
