Halogen to LED in Fairlight — a morning's work, and a fixed price including GST. Electrical3 is based in Cromer, minutes from Fairlight, and this is work we do across the Northern Beaches every week.
Every figure below is what we install for, including GST.
| What | Price inc GST | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| 10 downlights swapped | $584 | About $58 a light, including GST and fully installed. |
| 20 downlights swapped | $1,096 | The price per light falls as the number rises — the access and setup are done once. |
| Your exact number | Priced on the page | The calculator on our lighting page gives your figure as you move the slider. |
| Dimmers matched to the new lights | Quoted with the job | Old halogen dimmers rarely work properly with LED and are best changed together. |
| Outdoor and undereave lighting | Quoted on site | Worth doing in the same visit while the ladders are already out. |
Semis, cottages and units where ceiling access is tight and the job is judged on how the place is left. Most of these ceilings were lit with halogens or old CFL fittings, and in a unit the swap is usually inside your own lot — no strata approval needed.
Harbourside apartments and older houses on the slope between Manly and Balgowlah. Much of the work is unit and strata, where the fault is often in the common riser rather than the flat, and the older houses still carry original wiring behind renovated rooms.
Limited or no roof access, so the work is done from below through the existing cut-out
Heritage ceilings where the cut-out size has to be matched rather than enlarged
Old fittings in units still on the original lighting circuit with no safety switch

Ten swapped from 50W halogen to LED is $584 including GST, fully installed — about $58 a light. Twenty is $1,096. The calculator on our lighting page prices your exact number as you move the slider.
Usually yes. The access, the setup and the travel happen once, so the price per light falls as the number rises. If you are going to do it eventually, doing it in one visit is the cheaper way.

Almost never. Most halogens are a 90mm cut-out and the LEDs go straight into the same hole. Where a ceiling has an odd size we match it rather than enlarging it, which matters in older and heritage ceilings.
They come out. Leaving them in the ceiling is the shortcut that gets taken and it is both a heat problem and a waste — an LED does not need one. The old fittings and transformers leave with us.
Ten lights is a morning. The old ones come out, the new ones go in, and the room is left as it was found. Every job gets a certificate of compliance.
